Why Some Campaigns Change Businesses (Yet Most Don’t)
This is a challenge I came across repeatedly throughout my 17 years in marketing.
Clients often came to me looking to create great campaigns, but many of them existed in isolation. It wasn't until I started working with brands that truly understood their customers, and where those customers experienced the product, that I saw the opportunity to take campaign ideas further. Rather than ending with the campaign itself, the strongest ideas could be integrated into point of sale, customer experience, or other core touchpoints across the business.
Even today, too many brands mistake activity for progress.
New campaigns. New partnerships. New activations.
Particularly in industries such as fashion and FMCG, where products launch at a relentless pace, marketing can start to feel like a race to the finish line rather than a long and steady marathon.
The reality is that customers rarely experience campaigns in isolation. Brand growth happens when an entire business aligns around a clear idea and delivers it consistently across every touchpoint.
When people encounter the same idea throughout the customer journey, a brand becomes more memorable, credible and trusted. Instead of relying on campaigns alone, the business itself reinforces the message. The result is stronger customer loyalty, greater lifetime value and more sustainable growth over time.
This is why I created this strategic perspective document - to encourage a different way of thinking.
It includes an initial brand audit and practical checklist designed to help you assess whether your next campaign is being built as a standalone activity or as part of a broader customer experience.
